NASCAR suspends Matt Kenseth for wreck of Joey Logano
Logano finished 37th, 42 laps down. Logano was out front and had led almost half of the race to that point. Here, he was a complete coward…. “Until anyone says anything to me personally, no (it’s not over)”. Did you know: The race is the second in the third three-race round in the 10-event Chase. It dropped Logano to last in the current field of eight, with only a slim chance of making the final four this weekend.
Kenseth then got his revenge on Sunday at Martinsville when he wrecked Logano while Logano was the leader. Logano was denied a victory that would have punched his ticket to the November 22 four-driver winner-take-all finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Fans are certainly interested to see how NASCAR handles the latest incident.

The pit crew for Matt Kenseth (20) loads his damaged vehicle into the hauler after a crash with Joey Logano during the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series auto race at Martinsville Speedway in Martinsville, Va., Sunday, November 1, 2015. But NASCAR executive vice president Steve O’Donnell labeled his actions as “disappointing” after the race. It took NASCAR nearly a week to sort out all the shenanigans and it was made clear by chairman Brian France that manipulating races was a very serious crime.
The class shown by NASCAR’s most popular driver in not criticizing the outcome was the one positive takeaway from a bad ending to Sunday’s elimination race at Talladega Superspeedway. And when those limits are exceeded, we deal with that. “I think it’s BS”. I would have been surprised more so if there wasn’t a penalty than if there was. To me, “boys have it” meant a drivers could fight it out like a couple of drunk Irishmen afterwards; history suggests using your vehicle to settle a score would likely land you in the penalty box. Again, thanks for reading, hope you have a great rest of your day!!
What did Logano get for that blatantly premeditated ‘pay back?’ The answer is not a suspension. Moreover, he served his kangaroo-court penalty, so he doesn’t have to worry about feeling the wrath from any other veteran driver. You can just race that guy really hard.
I have no problem if NASCAR wants to crackdown on paybacks, it’s there sport, they can do what they want. This decision in context was entirely justified – there’s no way one of the biggest motor racing series on the planet could justify having top drivers ram competitors into walls like a destruction derby main event.
“Definitely my fault”, Kenseth agreed. “I got into him”.
“I feel like no matter the rules, when the race is over, I can live with the result as long as everyone else is going by the same rules”, Earnhardt said. It’s a tough sport.
Kenseth may have felt that Joey Logano had it coming in Martinsville after stuff that happened a few weeks ago.
Meanwhile, ESPN noted that Kenseth’s Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) will appeal the racer’s suspension.
“The appeal will challenge the severity of the penalty, which is believed to be inconsistent with previous penalties for similar on-track incidents”, the statement read. Tore them racecars right up, as the commentators say.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I am not saying Logano should just let Kenseth go and lost the race, but NASCAR was built on hard-nosed racing.
