Chaly: Rubin Kazan are better than Chelsea FC
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was delighted with the contribution of youngster Jordon Ibe in the club’s 1-0 Europa League win over Rubin Kazan on Thursday night.
The Belgian kept a clean-sheet in the Reds’ 1-0 victory away to Rubin Kazan on Thursday, as Klopp made it six games unbeaten since arriving at Anfield a month ago.
“Jordon (Ibe) was one of them, for sure”, said Klopp. “It’s even good for those players who can’t play in this moment to see how we work”.
“If he is prepared for this then everything will be good”, he concluded.
Liverpool have recorded three 1-1 draws in the competition this season, including two weeks ago at home to Rubin Kazan, when Klopp’s side were unable to take full advantage of having a man advantage for more than half the match. “It’s much easier when we win”.
However, Liverpool should be in confident mood as they warmed up for the game with a stunning 3-1 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday and Klopp will be hoping to follow that up with his first win in Europe since becoming boss. It’s OK. The lads fought for their lives and that was great to see.
“I only make the teams to win the next game, not to give a player rest if he doesn’t need it”, he said.
Liverpool will look to continue their recent good form when they take on Crystal Palace at Anfield on Sunday afternoon. Of course it is like this in a positive way where everyone says it’s a new chance and all the players feel more important than before.
Liverpool’s young players have really stepped it up a gear since the arrival of Jurgen Klopp.
Philippe Coutinho, who was nursing a minor hamstring issue, was the only fit first-team regular not to feature against Rubin. Liverpool are off the back of a long trip and we want to put them under pressure.
“We have a common experience and we can work with this”.
“We played without Adam [Lallana], who is in unbelievable shape in this moment; we played without Phil, who had such a brilliant game at Chelsea”.
The manager was satisfied with the win, but admitted they can still do more after dominating for most of the game.
“The pitch was really not good but we played football all the time against a defensive opponent and recovered when we lost it in risky areas”.
