Seconds of Summer guitarist Michael Clifford falls offstage at Radio 1’s
Michael Clifford, the goofy heart-throb guitarist for 5SOS, is on crutches after falling off stage heavily at the Radio 1 Teen Awards in London.
The prize was collected on the band’s behalf by DJ Greg James, who revealed that One Direction will play a special Live Lounge on Radio 1 on Thursday 12 November.
The guitarist also tweeted about the fall, writing: “Why Do I Always Hurt Myself?”

The boy band, which was not in attendance, was feted as Best British Group at London’s Wembley Arena ceremony, while Drag Me Down earned the stars the Friday Download Best British Single title.
In June Michael’s hair was set on fire on the same stage, when pyrotechnics caught on his long black locks. Ed Sheeran was named best British solo artist, while Joe Sugg won best British vlogger. She was one of many performers, such as Justin Bieber, 21, Little Mix, 5 Seconds of Summer, and even All Time Low. This year’s recipients included teenager carer Alice plus a fundraiser from Coventry with a highly malignant primary brain tumour and Aaren, a 16-year-old born with gender dysphoria.
