Obama: ‘Possibility’ That Bomb Brought Down Russian Airliner
The remains of a Russian airliner are inspected by military investigators at the crash site at the al-Hasanah area in El Arish city, north Egypt, November 1, 2015.
“I think there is a possibility that there was a bomb on board, and we’re taking that very seriously”, Obama said in a radio interview. “The fact that [British Prime Minister] David Cameron came out so soon”. In his article, Morgan says that the USA must decide now how it exactly wants to deal with ISIS before it is too late.
“We still can not be categorical but there is a distinct and credible possibility that there was a bomb”, one source said.
It’s not yet clear if ISIS is responsible for the Russian jet crash that happened in the Sinai Peninsula, but this incident could raise the stakes for the U.S.-led coalition in its struggle to eliminate the Islamist terrorist group. They refused to give any further information.
In his article for Daily Mail Online, Piers Morgan wrote that since ISIS has now not only destroyed a Russian airbus by planting a bomb in it and has claimed the responsibility of the attack as well, it clearly says that the organization is not going to budge without any serious strategy.
That, experts said, would mean ISIS will have proved that it has not just ambition but also real reach.
“They believe that what Daesh (Islamic State) is saying has a good chance of being credible”.
If ISIS was able to plant a bomb on the plane, “it’s a real game-changer for the region”, demonstrating that at least a few of ISIS’ grandiose boasts about its capabilities are true, said NBC News national security analyst Kevin Baron, executive editor of security analytics company Defense One.
Russia, which was initially critical of Britain’s assessment of what it has called a crash, on Friday suspended all flights to Egypt. He said that ISIS is much more threatening than Al-Qaeda since the previous big enemy of the USA was nothing more than an opportunistic group of smaller terror groups but ISIS, he says, is a highly trained and disciplined organization with a centralized structure and an urge to own a state, occupying as much space as possible. “Above all, this concerns tourist routes”.
“The evidence we received suggested there was a credible threat with regard to Sharm al-Sheikh airport which is why we have taken the actions we have”.
