Palestinian attacker killed in West Bank, Israeli army says

“Israel’s Jerusalem municipality hung an administrative demolition order on the Al-Qa’qa’ Mosque and on a commercial establishment in the Silwan neighborhood south of Al-Aqsa”, the Wadi Hilweh Information Center said in a statement.

Last week it said it had released seven bodies, apparently to ease tensions, but Palestinians say they are still awaiting 10 corpses and protests over the issue have led to clashes.

There was no immediate Israeli response to Abdullah’s remarks.

Per the terms of an agreement with Israel, a Jordanian trust administers the site where only Muslims are allowed to pray. Israel captured the holy site from Jordan in the 1967 Mideast war. It was not clear what Israel’s role in the surveillance would be.

Earlier Thursday, Palestinians in Hebron buried local man Ibrahim Skafi, 22, who was shot dead a day earlier after allegedly ramming and critically injuring an Israeli border policeman with his vehicle.

The assailants, believed to be Jewish extremists, lobbed a firebomb into the Dawabsheh home in the West Bank village of Duma, where the family of four was asleep.

Israel’s High Court suspended his detention on August 19 as he was given medical treatment following his hunger strike, which twice left him in a coma.

Allan spoke to reporters following his return late Wednesday, calling his release “a victory”. But once his condition had improved, he was rearrested and relaunched his hunger strike.

His plight sparked outrage among Palestinians.

Israelis have also highlighted cases in which websites and social media have carried unsavory content.
