Nestle Relaunches Maggi Noodles
However the Swiss giant Nestle cited that their product will not be sold in 8 states as the banned of their product hasn’t been lifted as of yet.
Five months after it was banned due to alleged presence of excessive lead content, Nestle India on Monday relaunched popular Maggi noodles brand in India in tie-up with Snapdeal.
“We have received test results from all three laboratories mandated by the Bombay High Court to test Maggi Noodles samples”.
Nestle India chief executive Suresh Narayanan said the labs could have lacked the right equipment.
Nestle India’s September quarter was severely hit by absence of its popular brand Maggi noodles.
Nestle has maintained that the noodles were safe to eat.
Nestle India said that it is commencing the sale of Maggi noodles masala on Monday.
The new boss of Nestle India has told the BBC that tests which showed Maggi noodles had lead in them were “highly unreliable”.
However, June’s ban brought in mixed reactions from consumers.
It was for the first time that the ministry dragged a company to the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) using a provision in the almost three-decade-old Consumer Protection Act.
In addition to loss of sales from the business disruption net sales worth Rs 15.32 crore have been reversed during the quarter in relation to Maggi Noodles stock being withdrawn from trade partners and market, the company said.
The Maggi issue had also impacted the bottomline of the parent firm Nestle SA.
According to Nestle, the FSSAI order of June 5 was based “solely on the test report and not on any risk assessment, communication or risk management”.
