Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Console to Launch Ahead of the Holiday Season
Larry “Major Nelson” Hyrb, director of XBox Programming revealed the news via a video that showed him bringing XBox 360 video games to Xbox One, which were allowed with the help of the Xbox One Backward Compatibility. “Our launch of 104 titles on November 12th is just the beginning”, says Mike Ybarra, director of program management for Xbox. More titles are on the way, including fan favorites like Halo Reach, Halo Wars, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Bioshock, Bioshock 2, Bioshock Infinite and Skate 3. You also get access to the original game with its 360 graphics instead of the prettier Xbox One remastered visuals that the Ultimate Edition has. Only 29 of them, in fact, are full Xbox 360 releases, leaving 75 as XBLA titles.
“All game modes, including multiplayer, will work just as they do on Xbox 360”, Microsoft said in an FAQ. Although the Kinect was a disastrous implement that nearly ruptured the hull and sent the console down to the inky depths for good, there’s a ton of things hardly anyone admits the Xbox One does better than the PS4, which once you start factoring in all the exclusive games already waiting to be played, provides quite the mighty package.
If you bought Gears of War: Ultimate Edition earlier this year, you should have access to play the rest of the games via Xbox One backwards compatibility. There is an alleged list of games available right now that will be backwards compatible on November 12th, while Microsoft will officially announce the list on November 9th.
