Huge alligator visits shopping mall in Texas
Sugar Land, Texas authorities received the gator-related call early Saturday and brought in gator trapper Christy Kroboth for help.
Sunday’s capture set a record for Kroboth – and possibly the state. The so-called Stokes alligator measured at 15 feet and 9 inches and weighed more than 1,000 pounds.
“Nobody thinks I’m the trapper when I show up”. Officials say that a 12-foot, 800-pound alligator was plodding its way across the shopping center’s parking lot, heading straight for a hair salon before employees saw it. The Sugar Land gator is almost as large as the biggest alligator ever caught.
They lifted up the big guy with a forklift from a nearby “home depot” and put him in the back of a pick-up.
The animal, thought to be 50 years old, will be sent to an alligator sanctuary in El Campo, Texas.
The 5-foot, 6-inch Kroboth is able to hold her own in a male-dominated business in which she is often underestimated.
The animal was captured by Krobroth.
“It’s mostly guys out there and they’re like ‘Texas Parks and Wildlife sent you?” Obviously no death roll or anything like that.
Kroboth said people often underestimate her ability to take care of alligator situations when she’s called to the scene.
