Detroit Lions Jim Caldwell calls ‘hogwash’ on report questioning Stafford’s
It takes you about two seconds to understand and know hes a very, very bright guy with an enormous amount of talent, Caldwell said of Stafford.
The Lions need a miracle to make the 2015 season meaningful after a 1-7 start, and coach Jim Caldwell likely would need to find a way to turnaround the play of his team if he wants a chance to continue coaching the Lions when the team finds its new general manager after firing Martin Mayhew last week.
How does hogwash sound?
“I’m saddened by the news about Tom and Martin, obviously those two guys along with the Ford family are the ones that brought me here”, Caldwell said.
That report upset Lions’ backup Dan Orlovsky which prompted him to defend Stafford’s intelligence in a tweet to Rapoport. “That is seriously comical”, Kelly shared on Instagram, along with since-deleted snaps of her chugging a bottle of vodka in the sand.
Over the past few weeks the Detroit Lions have fired their offensive coordinator, two offensive line assistants, general manager, and team president.
“You can’t help, and particularly the position that we’re in and the job that we do, to feel somewhat responsible, because of the fact that we didn’t certainly get our team to win as much as we certainly were expected to do and that we expect”, Caldwell said today, in his first comments since the firings. I believe that and we just have to play better..
The knock against Stafford has never been his physical tools.
Stafford is on pace to throw 22 interceptions this season, which would be a career high.
The struggles of the Lions’ offensive line, charged with protecting Stafford, have been well-documented.
“I know how things get started with rumors and typically I don’t respond to that but the intelligence of our quarterback should not be questioned”, Caldwell said.
