Pak National Assembly re-elects Ayaz Sadiq as Speaker

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has nominated Sardar Ayaz Sadiq as Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz candidate for Speaker National Assembly slot.

The PML-N has nominated Ayaz for speakership, who submitted his nomination papers. Then we both returned to the House on the same day’.

“Ayaz Sadiq got 268 votes while Shafqat Mahmood was polled 31 votes”.

“I am confident taht Ayaz Sadiq will maintain the same standards in the upcoming years”, PM Nawaz expressed before the meeting between the two was concluded. PTI Chairman Imran Khan also arrived at the National Assembly after an absence of six months to cast his vote, but immediately left after fulfilling the duty.

“I am also thankful to all PTI members who voted their conscience and empowered democracy by being a part of this process”.

Sadiq assured he will play an active role in cooperation with all the political parties to make the parliament more vibrant. He said they will request Pakistan People’s Party to vote for the opposition candidate. PTI’s parliamentary party’s session took place in Islamabad after which, party’s national organizer Shah Mehmood Qureshi told media of the decision adding other parties will also be contacted for support in the election.

Sadiq recently retained his NA seat after defeating PTI’s Aleem Khan in the NA-122 by-polls.
