NBA scores: Stephen Curry, Warriors rout Nuggets to remain unbeaten
Steph Curry now has a Player Efficiency Rating (PER) of 45.53, a staggering 13.71 points better than the current record for PER in a single season of 31.82, set by Wilt Chamberlain in the 1962-63 season.
But for all of their head-shaking, the Warriors remained undefeated after holding off the Sacramento Kings in a 103-94 win Saturday.
Curry led the way once more with 34 points and 10 assists, his supporting cast did plenty to take the pressure off, and the defending champion Warriors beat the Denver Nuggets 119-104 on Friday night to stay unbeaten.
“I like our mentality right now”, Curry said. “That’s the biggest thing”. There was a little frustration out there, I think. “We will get our shot”. “So it’s muscle memory, but you’ve got to have confidence to throw it up there (and) hope it goes in”. His energy on both ends was clearly visible, grabbing six rebounds and four steals to complement 14 points.
Rajon Rondo delivered his 23rd career triple-double with 14 points, 12 rebounds, and 15 assists in the losing effort. However, Curry hit his first three-pointer of the night to give back the 81-79 lead to the Warriors and hit another three with under a minute to go for a 97-88 lead.
The former Kansas Jayhawks standout is experiencing a “minutes reduction” punishment from Karl these days because of his poor performance in the team’s first six outings of the season.
Then came the vastly versatile and hoops-knowledgable forward Rick with his fluid-motion, ideal shooting-form, precision passing, underhand free throwing extraordinaire, proficient rebounder, cunning ball-thief, scoring champion at 35-plus points-a-game average rookie and soph of the year.
Iguodala, though, was 6 for 8 from the field and steadied the Warriors.
Championship holders the Warriors have lit up the league so far and boast a ideal 6-0 win-loss record. They shot 41 and missed 31-of-39 3-point attempts. “That’s who they are”.
If the Warriors’ lackluster play was because of playing in their second game in two nights, they’ll have to improve in that area. The Warriors guard said he always pleasant memories about the twice-annual drives up Interstate 80 to play in the state’s capitol. “I was completely OK with a few of the looks we were getting. They’re not happy with just the one that we have”.
Warriors center Bogut missed his fifth straight game after sustaining a concussion in the October 27 season opener against New Orleans.
“We have a good flow going, but that will be something that is decided on once we know he’s 100 percent going to play”, Walton said of Bogut. The Warriors totaled 40 assists, their most in a game since 1994.
