Dell & HP Tell Customers Not To Upgrade To Windows 10
Microsoft is pushing Windows 10 more aggressively than any Windows version yet, with free upgrades for consumers through next fall.
Microsoft has spent a considerable amount of time, money and effort developing and marketing Windows 10.
The site’s editors recently went undercover for their annual Tech Support Showdown and contacted individual OEM support lines for help fixing their PCs. According to an interesting new report from Laptop, PC tech support representatives are actively advising customers to stay away from Windows 10.
Laptopmag performed a test to determine how tech support services respond when asked about Windows 10 problems, but surprisingly, the answer was in every case odd and unexpected.
As discovered by Laptop Mag through a few undercover work involving placing calls to tech support of various companies in order to judge their response support service, they found out that the support personnel at Dell and HP simply told them to switch back to a previous version of Windows and stop using Windows 10 instead of actually trying to find a few sort of a solution.
“There are a lot of glitches in Windows 10”, Dell support rep Jalvin told the Laptop Mag staff. However, the issue reported by the Laptop Mag staff required a simple solution and didn’t need downgrading to an old version of Windows. “I really don’t recommend customers upgrade to Windows 10”, an HP rep said.
An HP rep, meanwhile, reportedly tried to remotely downgrade Laptop’s Pavilion x360 and failed, after which she recommended a $40 recovery USB key to roll back to the older Windows version. As for HP, the company’s VP of customer experience Mike Nash said, “At the end of the day, the person’s job is to get the PC running”, Nash said, “Given the scenario, it might have been the most expeditious thing to get them back to a known good space“. We had a lot of gaming problems, driver problems and many more, I would know because I have experienced them all.
That became clear when speaking with Lenovo.
“In addition, we have a continuous feedback loop with Microsoft in which we share insight from our customers, like the one received from this particular call, to inform further updates to the OS and ensure Windows 10 reflects the experience our customers are seeking”. The support agent advised turning the microphone to always-on, which isn’t an audio setting.
