Woman pulls knife at checkpoint shot
Israeli media are reporting the woman allegedly left a suicide note.
In a separate incident this morning, Israeli security officers shot dead a Palestinian woman who tried to stab them.
The Israeli soldiers opened fire on it with volleys of bullets.
Meir Rubinstein, the mayor of Beitar Illit, said that while a tragedy was averted, people in the settlement were “determined to go on, to continue with our routine”, according to Sky News. The man was a civilian security guard in his 20s, and the attacker was identified as 22-year-old Halawa Alian, reported The Times of Israel.
The guard was lightly wounded.
Israeli human rights group B’Tselem said Friday that the Israeli military’s measures are “draconian” and constitute collective punishment for Palestinian residents who are not suspected of involvement in violence but are affected by checkpoints and closures of areas. Israel’s defense ministry said the victim survived after receiving help at a nearby checkpoint.
Americans might well think that the Palestinians want control exclusively over the West Bank and Gaza.
Three attacks took place on Sunday.
