Desharnais scores winner late, Habs beat Bruins 4-2
Scoring three unanswered prevented what a few might have seen as a slow start by the Canadiens, but in the end taking the night from Boston gave them a night off before preparing to take on the Penguins Wednesday.
The Bruins hadn’t beaten Montreal in the regular season since March 2014. It was the first goal allowed at home by Montreal’s penalty killers in 24 attempts this season. On the other side of the ice, Tuukka Rask was given the night off ahead of the Bruins game on Sunday versus the Islanders, and Jonas Gustavsson was given the start.
It should have provided more momentum for the Bruins.

“Stupid penalty”, Krejci said.
Nineteen seconds into the second period, Boston center David Krejci was given two minutes for hooking. Krejci only had one hand on his stick when he did this; it hardly limited Desharnais at all. On the powerplay, David Desharnais scored his 2nd powerplay goal of the year off of another Galchenyuk rebound.
In the B’s dressing room after the game, Krejci was the picture of dejection. “Stuff like that shouldn’t happen, especially when it’s guys who have been in the league and know better”. A coach’s challenge from Claude Julien reversed the decision and kept the score in favor of Boston. When you’re on the road you need to find ways to win, and we weren’t able to do that tonight.
