Carson, Trump Tied For Top Spot In SC
Republican Presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson now says he never applied, nor was granted admission to West Point, but he’s sticking to his story about being offered a scholarship.
Politico last week published a piece examining Carson’s claim of receiving a scholarship offer to attend the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
CNN also reported finding no support for Carson’s oft-repeated claim that he as a teen tried to stab a close friend.
Mike Huckabee, a former Arkansas governor, said when he heard Carson’s complaints about the media, “I’m thinking pal, you ain’t seen nothing yet”.
Ben Carson used to favor doing away with Medicare and Medicaid and replacing them with “health savings accounts” (although he now says he would not abolish the old program but that everyone would voluntarily switch from them to his health savings accounts). I guess a book was written – I don’t know where this all came from, but a book was written before he ran for politics. Eventually an Obama spokesperson, Bill Burton, acknowledged Obama’s mistake and make the correction that the Kenya student program, “started 48 years ago, not 49 years ago as Obama has mistakenly suggested in the past”.
Politico said in an editor’s note Friday that it stood by its original reporting on the story.
Carson told Fox Business Network this morning of people who are questioning his stories of violence in his youth: “I guess that is a great compliment to me if they don’t think I was ever capable of that”.
By 64-22 percent, very conservative GOP voters, and by 66-20 percent supporters of the Tea Party movement, said they like Cruz more each time they see him.
When pressed about the complete lack of endorsements, most lawmakers insisted it was too early or there were too many candidates to choose from – not that Mr. Trump and Mr. Carson are too far outside the mainstream to risk associating themselves with them.
Carson said that what he called the “political hit job” by the media has backfired and is only serving to shore up his support.
In a telephone survey of 603 Tennessee voters October 25-27, the threshold question posed: “Of all the candidates now running for president, can you please name the one person you would most like to win the election?”
“The fact is, you know, we wish the media would be just as obsessed with Hillary Clinton’s lies over the years”, Priebus said in an interview on NBC’s “Today” show. In the same answer, Trump questioned whether a belt buckle could have stopped Carson from stabbing his friend, as he described in his book. “It’s almost an us-versus-them thing”.
Donald Trump, who is battling Carson for the top spot in many Republican polls, has picked up on the criticism of Carson, telling ABCs This Week that there is a weird deal going on with the retired neurosurgeon. And I know there were Congressional Medal of Honor – you know it may not have been a memorial. “Well, you notice, I said it was offered”, Carson told host John Dickerson. They are relegated to the undercard debate, which begins at 0000 GMT Wednesday and features four back-of-the-pack candidates.
