Blue Jays 3B Donaldson voted top major leaguer by his peers
Toronto Blue Jays slugger Josh Donaldson was named this season’s best player by his peers, winning the Players Choice Award from the Major League Baseball Players’ Association.
Donaldson was a baseball and football star at Faith Academy in Mobile and played baseball at Auburn.
The Players Choice Awards have been awarded on Monday, and the Outstanding Player Award has been decided upon.
Donaldson registered a 1.5 defensive WAR rating in 2015, while Trout was at 1.0 and Cruz had a considerably worse showing at minus-1.8.
In a possible preview of the official Most Valuable Player awards, Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson and Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper won the Players Choice Awards as the outstanding player in the American League and National League, respectively.
