India’s Jet Airways confirms order for 75 Boeing 737 planes
India’s Jet Airways has announced the purchase of 75 Boeing 737 Max aircraft, worth around $8.25bn at list price, although airlines typically get discounts for large orders.
This is the airline’s largest ever fleet order valued at $8.7 billion at list price.
The civil and military aviation orders at the Dubai Airshow have accumulated to almost 30 billion US dollars, the organizer F&E Aerospace said on Monday. Currently, Jet Airways has a fleet of 115 aircraft.
But after a spending spree over recent years, airlines have reined in orders.

Jet will be the first Indian airline to take delivery of a 737 Max, Boeing confirms.
The first is a 16-billion contract with GE Aviation for its fleet of 150 Boeing 777s.
The 737 Max 8 is the latest and greatest in the single aisle aircraft category from Boeing and brings with it much talked about Leap 1B engines and advanced winglets.

“Before the end of the year, we will also add two more destinations to our network, including Durban in South Africa, and next year we will launch services to Los Angeles in January, Sydney and Boston in March, Adelaide in May, and Atlanta in June, as well a double daily frequency to NY – all of which will enable more of our passengers to experience our award-winning services on the world’s very latest aircraft, such as our new Dreamliners”.
The purchase “supports surveillance capabilities” of the Gulf nation’s air force, he said.
Saudi Arabia and the UAE have been involved in the war in Yemen against the country’s Shiite Houthi rebels and are part of the US-led coalition bombing against the Islamic State group in Syria and Iraq.
