‘Gotham’ Season 2 Spoilers: Theo Galavan Sends Barbara After Jim Gordon; What
Gordon is on Barbara’s radar in an all-new episode of GOTHAM this Monday at 8/7c on FOX!
Barbara believes Lee doesn’t know who Gordon is, but Lee shows Barbara there are no secrets between them. He threatens to kill her, and she practically begs him to do it, but the GCPD shows up and Barbara takes off. Here, it does, as Barbara’s continued manipulation of Gordon not only gives us a welcome insight into her psyche, but also shines a light on Gordon’s more malicious actions.
“Gordon and Barnes continue cleaning up Gotham, and Gordon comes face-to-face with one of the city’s most risky hitmen, Eduardo Flamingo (guest star Raul Castillo)”.
Later on, Barbara waltzes into GCPD and has a chat with Jim in the interrogation room. Barbara’s dream begins with a sweet wedding rehearsal for her and Gordon but quickly devolves into what can only be described as a truly terrible acid trip beginning with her marriage officiant turning into Penguin and ending with Barbara sitting in a church with a straightjacket and a gag in her mouth while watching Lee and Gordon tie the knot and laugh at her in the process. Barbara looks up at him, says she loves him, lets go of his hand and falls to the street.
Gordon manages to free himself and get his hands on the gun Barbara abandoned in favor of a blade.
After digging the hole and enjoying a glass of wine for the both of them, Edward is ready to pile on the dirt but out of nowhere a hunter happens upon his site and wonders what he’s doing out here so far into the woods.
Barnes agrees to let Gordon do things his way, but he’s sending in backup.
So Nygma grabs the bone saw and heads out into the woods to find the culprit. Look, I get it. The point of the GCPD is that they ran around accidentally lighting their trousers on fire until Batman shows up and is like “what if we just punched crime?” Maybe his (future friend) Nygma is willing to assist? Galavan will leave the file with Bruce, provided Bruce signs over his company.
Gordon spots Barbara from his passenger window and pulls his gun, but she’s a bright girl; she knows he won’t shoot.
Galavan offers to buy Bruce’s 51-percent share for billions of dollars and in exchange he can start living his life but as an added bonus he will throw in the identities of the men responsible for his parents’ deaths.
Regardless of that heartfelt outpouring, Bruce decides to sell the company because all he wants at this point is closure.
Bruce goes to Theo’s to meet with him.
Bruce shows up to Galavan’s and begins to put pen to paper before he finally withdraws and tells the new Mayor of Gotham that his company is no longer for sale. Not for any price. Barbara comes up from behind him wearing the wedding dress she bought when they were engaged. Jim should know better. But from her quick flip-flop of emotions to the way she seemingly stared right at Lee through the two-way mirror, it’s pretty obvious that Barbara is still on the path toward Gordon destruction.
With the strike force following close behind, Barbara leads Gordon and Bullock downtown. Well, Leslie surprises her by explaining how Jim shot and killed a man for Penguin. It seems they do tell each other everything! However, Bullock refuses to step away and figures out that Barbara took Gordon to a church near where Gordon was taken. “You see an abyss, and you run towards it” she says about Gordon’s tendency to feed into Barbara’s plans. He tells her to hold on, but after declaring her love for him, she lets go. I’m guessing the elite Strike Force got their asses handed to them or turned around because they are nowhere to be found. OK, so we haven’t actually seen how the interaction between Nygma and Penguin might work, but I am so on board with this development – if only because it is the unexpected thing that could make me care about Nygma as a character.
Gordon rushes off to find Mayor James, who is indeed alive and well and he immediately points the finger at Galavan.
The relationship with Theo Galavan – she’s very aware that she doesn’t really have the means right now to do what she wants, especially to get Jim, so she needs to find the most powerful element in Gotham right now. Galavan is going down or is that just what he wants us to think?
