The Game Awards 2015 Has Been Set And Dated
The event will be streamed live on Twitch and through Xbox and PlayStation consoles, among other places.
Featuring “world premiere game trailers, game-inspired musical performances, and award presentations from the game industry’s biggest names”, The Game Awards 2015 will take place on Thursday, December 3 at 6pm PT/9pm ET in Los Angeles. During an interview with the NY Times, Geoff Keighley said that he is expecting around 4000 people to attend the event, compared to previous year with 3500 attendees.
Another change this year is that Keighley has brought on a major sponsor in Verizon.
Previously, Keighley worked with Spike TV to host the annual awards show on cable TV.
The Game Awards 2015 has been dated. But the event was downgraded on its final year at Spike, where it was turned into an online-only event called VGX 2013 which was hosted by Joel McHale.
Just like previous year, each of these platforms will offer sales and discounts to coincide with the show. But when Spike asked him to produce the show in 2014, he refused and set out to create his own awards ceremony. The list of nominees has not yet been revealed. This year’s advisory board includes heavy-hitters like Peter Moore (EA), Hideo Kojima, Yves Guillemont (Ubisoft), Reggie Fils-Aime (Nintendo), Phil Spencer (Xbox), Eric Hirshberg (Activision), Shawn Layden (SCEA) and many more.
