Man, woman found dead inside SUV in Fairmount Park ID’d
Police said the pair were in relationships with other people.
The victims, Shakoor Arline, 25, and Lisa Smith, 32, were dating each other on-the-side of their respective relationships, Philadelphia Police Capt. James Clark revealed Monday.
A maintenance crew collecting trash at Fairmount Park were first to find their bullet-riddled bodies in the back of a parked SUV around 2 p.m. Friday. Preliminary reports apparently indicate the shooting took place sometime between midnight and 5 a.m. Friday morning-if their sexy rendezvous was, for example, extramarital, or otherwise illicit, that might explain the location and hour.
“It really is a travesty”, said neighbor Henry Murray, “but I just hope and pray to God justice will be served and I think it will be in this case because he’s a good guy”.
“We know that they had a relationship but also they had outside relationships so obviously that’s where our investigation is gonna start”, Captain Clark said. Investigators say the two were having a sexual encounter when someone opened the rear door of the white Toyota SUV and shot them at close range.
“It appears very much to be a crime of passion”, Clark says. He says police have spoken to one woman who knew one of the victims. Smith had several children.
Thomason said he had never met Smith, but that Arline sometimes spoke of her, and once talked of moving with her to Arizona, her home state. Clark said both were “upstanding individuals” and had no issues with the police.
