Colts put defensive lineman Henry Anderson on IR
Third-round pick D’Joun Smith, who has yet to play since injuring his knee in the preseason, is eligible to be activated from short-term injured reserve and could return for the Colts’ next game in Atlanta on November 22.
Indianapolis Colts defensive tackle Henry Anderson was forced to leave the team’s Week 9 win over the Denver Broncos with a serious knee injury that forced the team to place him on injured reserve, ending his season.
The one negative from the game was injuries, and the most notable injury was to one of the defensive players the Colts could least afford to lose. The MRI will confirm the nature of the injury, but the Colts will not the see defensive end on the field again this year.
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, defensive end Henry Anderson is believed to have torn his ACL.
He was replacing veteran Arthur Jones, who was placed on IR in September with an ankle injury.
Prior to the Denver game, Anderson had been credited with 34 tackles, most among defensive linemen. McGill and Zach Kerr both present options as well. The Colts will have a bye week to figure things out, which is the slight positive in all of this.
The Indianapolis Colts’ worst fears regarding Henry Anderson have been realized. He and former Cardinal teammate David Parry have started all eight games.
