Eagles Players Had Choice Words About Greg Hardy After Sunday’s Game
Dallas Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy expressed his “regret 4 what happened in the past” on Twitter Saturday, days after shocking police photos of his former girlfriend showing the abuse she suffered were published.
“Any time I had a chance to put a little muscle into a block, I did”, Johnson said. He wasn’t all that emotional in the game. “Whereas before, when they initially signed him, I’m thinking all the domestic violence issues that the league has dealt with, this guy didn’t play last season, the guy got suspended for 10 games, he appealed, he got it knocked down to four games”. “If nobody is giving him a shot, a sniff, a tryout as of November 2 I don’t know why all of a sudden things are going to change now”. You should never hit a woman.
Dallas decided not to part ways with Hardy, though, so on Sunday night, he lined up for the team’s game against the Eagles. He has a commitment to do the right thing. Jones said the Cowboys are aware of Hardy’s situation, take the situation seriously and do not condone domestic violence.
“He has a commitment to his teammates and our team”.
“The way it’s set up in the National Football League, relative to behavior, and in fact we wanted to give Greg a second chance”.
Hardy was suspended four games this season for the incident, and missed all but one game last season, when he was with the Carolina Panthers.
Hardy finished the game with three tackles, one for a loss, and one sack, but Philadelphia’s offense moved the ball easily against the Dallas defense for much of the night and Hardy could be seen sucking wind on multiple occasions thanks to the Eagles’ frenetic pace. It really shouldn’t take photos, you know, or anything to understand the severity of domestic violence that happens every eight seconds as we speak.
A source said that Hardy told Haley that even though the team is behind him, he’s not “getting support from close friends right now“.
In 2014, Hardy was arrested and later convicted of assault and threatening ex-girlfriend Nicole Holder. Reporter Wendi Nix made a strong statement on ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown about what she thought of Hardy, Jones, the Cowboys and the sponsors, including American Airlines.
Goodell doesn’t have the power to suspend Hardy indefinitely in light of Friday’s report (Hardy has already been suspended for the offense once).
