Offices closing to observe Veterans Day

Wednesday is Veterans Day, and Newport-Mesa Unified District schools, libraries, post offices, the Newport Beach Civic Center and banks will be closed in honor of the holiday.

Same goes for schools and libraries, neither of which are required by the government to close.

Miami-Dade garbage collection: Normal schedule. Downtown parking meters and pay stations will be free for the duration of the holiday for guests and residents.

Social Security offices will be closed, as will most states’ Department of Motor Vehicle offices. Bank lobbies and drive-up windows are closed for business.

County parks and preserves and the Florida Botanical Gardens will be open.

The following banks observe the Veterans Day holiday.

Brooker Creek Environmental Education Center, Weedon Island Cultural and Natural History Center and Heritage Village will be closed. The USA bond markets will be closed.

NJ Transit: Bus schedules vary by route; check individual schedule for details.

Most stores will still be open, including CVS, Walgreens and Walmart.
