Gonzalo Higuain to Chelsea: Jose Mourinho prepares move for long-term Arsenal

Higuain, who played under Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid, would not come cheap.

But another of Higuain’s brothers, Nicolas, told Radio Crc in Naples that he isn’t looking to quit the club in January, particularly with Napoli in contention for the Serie A title.

“He’s very happy in Naples”.

The 27-year-old is under contract with Napoli until June 2018 and could leave next summer by exercising FIFA’s article 17 that allows footballers to break their contract once a protected period has expired.

“At the moment we don’t have any appointments lined up with Napoli, I met De Laurentiis in Venice but it wasn’t the right moment to talk about certain things because we were calm and focused on the result to be achieved”.

Higuain, by contest, has bagged nine goals in 12 outings in the Italian top flight, helping Napoli force their way into the title picture in Serie A.

Karnezis kept his side level with two good pieces of goalkeeping as Napoli continued to knock on the door, first when he dived low to keep out Higuain’s effort before he smothered the ball at the feet of Callejon minutes later after Higuain had slipped the Spaniard through.

“My brother doesn’t speak a lot about what’s going on in the backroom, but I have noticed that since he has joined Napoli, he is becoming a real man as well as a true leader”.

Argentina’s head coach Gerardo Martino has also called up Higuain for the Albiceleste’s World Cup qualifying games against Brazil and Colombia.

“Gonzalo has never lost faith in the possibility of joining Argentina”.
