Amazon launches restaurant delivery in Los Angeles, keeps hinting at larger
Amazon is offering restaurant delivery in Los Angeles via its Prime Now delivery service, the company has announced.
The offering from Amazon Prime Now promises to get food delivered to users of the service in one hour or less. Amazon first launched the restaurant delivery service in Seattle and Portland in September and they’re now gradually unrolling the service in select cities. All of the items can be ordered through Amazon’s Prime Now app, available for iOS and Android as well as Amazon devices.
“Los Angeles is known for great local restaurants with cuisines from around world”, said Gus Lopez, general manager, Amazon Restaurants. Prime members can enter their zip code here to see if the service is now available in their area, although a quick test of a few zip codes reveals service to Santa Monica, Venice, Culver City, Downtown, Silver Lake, and Echo Park, with spottier delivery times to Hollywood and the Valley. Along with that, the food delivery option is also only available through the Prime Now app, according to the report.
Amazon Prime Now is currently letting customers order and have their food delivered for free. “We are excited to offer new and existing customers yet another convenient way to enjoy Baby Blues BBQ”. Customers pay using the information already stored in their Amazon account and orders are backed by Amazon’s award-winning customer service.
