Ohio State QB Barrett to start after 1-game suspension
Monday, Meyer announced Barrett will start this weekend against IL.
“I wasn’t making my case”, he said.
Ohio State (9-0) maintained the No. 3 spot after extending its winning streak to 22 games with a 28-14 win at home over Minnesota. Marshall has engaged in key blocks all season long, including a crucial one on Elliott’s 15-yard touchdown on Saturday. Barrett was suspended for one game but is considered the starter heading into the No. 2 Buckeyes’ game at IL. The Gophers ran for only 33 yards on 26 carries – and that includes only one sack.
– The last time Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott didn’t run for 100 yards was against Minnesota.
In the two games that Coach Meyer went primarily with the read option offense Ohio State averaged 298 yards rushing per game and converted 47.6 percent of their third downs.
He said he has thrown passes in practice.
“I’d love to get up there and see everything, hopefully for the MI State game”, Anthony said.
Although Meyer had a few criticism of how the Buckeyes played, he did comment, “And then once we got going, we had a few big plays and scored enough points to win the game”.
Yes, the number two team in the country lost and, to the naked eye, that would mean the number three team (Ohio State) would move in to take their place. Iowa will play Minnesota, Purdue and Nebraska-and possibly in the Big Ten title game.
A hungry Illini squad may give the Buckeyes a run for their ranking come Saturday in Champaign, Illinois.
Cardale Jones did not have a great game, but he had two killer plays.
Got a question about Ohio State football?
“I know he is horribly embarrassed, and he is very concerned with how this has affected those close to him, starting with his family, his teammates, his coaches, and of course the Ohio State fans”.
-Minnesota cornerback Jalen Myrick likely will miss the remainder of the regular season after suffering a rib injury during the Gophers’ loss to Ohio State on Saturday night. Jones only has eight touchdown passes, and five interceptions.
I fully realize the NCAA wants to make football safer for everyone and with the mounting concussions and media attention to them something had to be done to keep the players safe. “They outsmarted us sometimes”.
