Joel Campbell wants to fight for Arsenal place
Galatasaray are set to make a January bid for Arsenal forward Joel Campbell according to Fanatik.
The 23-year-old was linked with an exit in the summer given his very limited game time under manager Arsene Wenger following his return from loan.
Campbell has already played for four other clubs in his past four seasons as he was unable to hold down a regular role on the wings.
His improved playing time comes off the back of injuries to midfielders Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere and forward duo Alex Oxlade-Chamberlin and Theo Walcott.
With injuries decimating Arsenal’s options on the right flank, Campbell has been called upon to stand in, scoring his first goal for the Gunners against Swansea and starting against both Bayern Munich and Tottenham. He replied: “No, I’m an Arsenal player and I’m very happy here”.
Arsenal substituted the Costa Rica global in the second half, bringing on Kieran Gibbs in his place. “I keep fighting for my dream and I think I still have a long-term future here”.
“I’m trying to take advantage of my opportunity but I know that what happens next is up to the manager”.
Campbell lasted 74 minutes of Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Sunday’s north London derby Tottenham Hotspur before the striker was replaced by left-back Kieran Gibbs, who scored the equaliser. “I’m happy [for having played again against Tottenham] but we wanted to win”. If I’m playing it’s because he has confidence in me so I just try to do the best job I can. And he is hoping he has done enough to stay in the team. “Every opportunity is invaluable to me and I am trying to give my best”.
