Chelsea can still compete for top four – Kane
Hazard has played a few part in every Premier League game this season, while Costa has missed just two, but whereas the pair combined for 34 goals and 12 assists across the whole of last season, they have just two goals and three assists combined with more than a third of the season in the books.
The 1-1 draw moved Mauricio Pochettino’s side up to fifth in the standings and just five points off the summit, having not lost in the league since their opening-day defeat at Manchester United. “We showed (it) in the last game in the Champions League (in beating Dynamo Kiev) and at Stoke we played good football but we didn’t have any luck”, he said.
“The table is not realistic now, because I think Chelsea deserve more and we will try to recover points which we lost a lot until now”. They’ve been playing very well and not conceding a lot of goals and I think our team will always score goals as well – we’ve got a lot of players who create chances and score goals. We probably deserved to win against Liverpool, we beat City and probably maybe deserved to beat Arsenal as well.
Those derbies come against in-form West Ham and beleaguered Premier League champions Chelsea, with the Blues’ poor start to their title defence offering the chance for a different side to challenge for a top-four finish. But, like I keep saying, you never know what’s going to happen this season… unless you’re Mourinho.
“It’s just about doing things right and keeping our heads and keep trying to get better”.
Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic insists his struggling team are together and believes the Premier League table is unrealistic. The Leicester striker scored in his ninth consecutive league game on Saturday to take him just one game away from potentially levelling Ruud van Nistlerooy’s record of 10.
“Obviously they’re not playing very well at the moment but I wouldn’t write them off”, he said. In recent weeks we have seen ridiculously exciting scorelines: 6-2 Newcastle v Norwich, 5-1 Man City v Crystal Palace, and 6-2 Everton v Sunderland last week.
