Jindal Stands By Christie Attack
The debate, like the past three GOP debates, will be divided into two sessions.
Christie came to Milwaukee on Tuesday smarting from a demotion to the earlier debate, which was thinned to eight candidates. “It is suffocating small business, it is suffocating the folks trying to make a living”. IBTimes United Kingdom will be live blogging throughout the night beginning at 7pm ET/12am GMT.
“You look at the Fed, one of the reasons we had the financial crash is throughout the 2000s, we had loose money, we had an asset bubble, it drove up the price of real estate, drove up the price of commodities, and then in the third quarter of 2008, the Fed tightened the money and crashed those asset prices, which caused a cascading collapse”, the Texas senator said.
It was Christie, though, who may have left the deepest impression of the candidates.
Jindal: Refused to answer. Says everyone in Washington should be sacked.
While Jindal was more successfully baiting Huckabee into defending his record as a state executive, Christie intervened with the first in a series of his own offensive moves directed at the Democratic front-runner.
Co-host Mika Brzezinski asked Christie why he avoid a confrontation with his opponent Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-LA). “I think the way we govern matter. To achieve these goals, we must continue our work and go further to ensure that the next step leads to that economically vibrant future for Atlantic City”. “It’s about actually cutting government spending – not just talking about cutting government spending”. “Don’t worry about Huckabee or Jindal”.
Christie, known for his aggressive signature style, did not engage Jindal at all during his attacks, keeping his focus on Hillary Clinton every single time the Louisiana governor attacked him.
Christie and Huckabee both failed to register high enough in the polls to qualify for the main-stage debate. “A liberal is not one of them”, said Christie. His comments are met by applause from the audience. He says under President Obama there is “record dependence” on welfare programs. He also drew laughter when he said that he heard Fed Chairman Janet Yellen’s name he thought of his wife Janet because she does a lot of yellin’. “We get rid of the IRS”, he said.
Santorum called for a more efficient tax code and elimination of Obama-era regulations that are hampering businesses. I think time will tell how well it went. She is the real adversary.
Christie joined former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, and former Pennsylvania Sen.
Republican us presidential candidate and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee speaks during a forum for lower polling candidates held by Fox Business Network before the 2016 U.S. Republican presidential candidates debate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, November 10, 2015. Lindsey Graham and former NY Gov. George Pataki who didn’t even make the cut. “The people out there don’t care about any of that”, he added.
McClatchy-Marist found 3 percent of Republican voters supporting Huckabee. However, a poll by Fox News placed Trump in first with 26%, Carson in second with 23% and Rubio tied in third with Ted Cruz with 11%.
