Liam Neeson Stars In Candy Crush…The Movie
Stephen Colbert acted out a sweet dream with the help of Liam Neeson on Tuesday night’s “Late Show”. Stephen Colbert deduced that “It’s only a matter of time before Activision makes a movie out of Candy Crush”, that would include an all-star cast “featuring Liam Neeson as Mr. Toffee”.
All it needs is Cate Blanchett and a few connection to World War II, and “Candy Crush” would be a lock. “My game is over”. “I’m out of moves….” I spent my spent my best years crushing candy. A year after its release, it had surpassed FarmVille 2, the flagship game from King rival Zygna, on Facebook and would go on to be the most downloaded iOS app of 2013. Then, just a few days later, it announced that it was launching Activision Blizzard Studios, a new film and television studio will be “devoted to creating original content based on the company’s extensive library of iconic and globally-recognized intellectual properties”. It’s also trying to be the first video game-to-film adaptation to be taken even remotely seriously since, I don’t know, Super Mario Bros. As always, the preview pretty much gives away the whole movie.
Still, it’s a bit hard to imagine Candy Crush on the big screen.
