Luck to miss 2-6 weeks with lacerated kidney
The Indianapolis Colts announced Tuesday that Andrew Luck sustained multiple injuries in the Colts’ victory over the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
The tests indicated a laceration in one of Luck’s kidneys and a partial tear of abdominal muscle. “We’re going to keep listening to the doctors and evaluating his progress on a week-by-week basis”.
Indianapolis has gone 2-5 with Luck this season. Matt Hasselbeck used to be a Pro-Bowl type caliber player and is known for having a pretty good football career. Plus they have backup Matt Hasselbeck, who won to games for them, completing 63 percent of his passes with three touchdowns and no interceptions in the two games. The Colts say Luck won’t need surgery and the doc confirmed as much, although pushing it to get back and suffering a re-injury could “greatly complicate the situation”.
The presence of Hasselbeck, the 40-year-old former starter for the Seattle Seahawks and Tennessee Titans, has made the Colts the anti-Cowboys this season.
Interestingly, the Colts are still in the playoff hunt. Nobody wishes ill will on anyone or any team, but without Andrew Luck under center the Week 13 game at Heinz Field just got a lot easier on paper.
“It’s another body blow, but you pick yourself up, you dust yourself off and you go to work”, Pagano said. Luck has taken too many hits overall since he was drafted in 2012, and while Luck may be one of the tougher quarterbacks in the league, all those hits will still take their toll no matter how tough a quarterback is. Our guys will respond like they always do. “We have to win this week and continue to win to have a chance at the end of the season”. “We’ve been through a ton already this season and in the past, and we’ll get through it. We’ll get through it”.
Indianapolis is entering week 10 with a bye before playing against the Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the final two weeks of November. Hasselbeck has proven this season that he’s more than capable of running this offense and he can play the position without making so many mistakes.
