Week 10 waiver wire: Streaming defenses to target
Karlos Williams returned from a concussion yesterday and played well (110 yards, two touchdowns). McCoy did hurt his shoulder, and he is slated to have an MRI, but that doesn’t mean anything is certain just yet. With the Bills playing on Thursday night, K. Williams is a hot waiver wire commodity this week. Obviously, you want to make sure you are not giving up too much in the trade. Against the Panthers, I see him continuing along that trend, as their defense has been outstanding against the pass (12 interceptions, best in the NFL).
NFL and fantasy football enthusiast that is a self-proclaimed sore loser and an overly competitive person by nature. I would stay away from Donte Moncrief, Dwayne Allen, and Fleener.
Now, it’s on to my early look at the Week 10 rankings. Williams would be at the top of the waiver priority list, even if LeSean McCoy were fully healthy. Crowder also has solid shooting percentages plus 4 games this week to do his thing and is now available in over 75 percent of all Major Fantasy Basketball Leagues. There is even an outside possibility that Big Ben could play this Sunday against Cleveland. He is a must-start player in Week 10 already. Denver has two cornerbacks of Norman’s stature in Chris Harris and Aqib Talib, and that duo held the Packers receivers of Randall Cobb, Davante Adams and James Jones to eight catches for 37 yards and no touchdowns. McCoy was present at the Bills walkthrough on Monday, meaning he very well could play even in a short week.
If you’re looking for a long-term contributor to add to your fantasy squad, skip over Marcus Thornton and head straight down to the next players on this list. He racked up another 122 yards on 16 touches and added a nifty touchdown reception on Sunday.
Buy Low: Demaryius ThomasIf there is an elite WR option out there you can safely say is due, his name is Demaryius Thomas. I wouldn’t worry about picking up Beasley unless you are in the deepest of leagues. You need to establish a solid starter as you wait for Roethlisberger to come back once again. Hurns continued to provide his owners a good R.O.I.
Delanie Walker – Titans: Walker was the biggest beneficiary to Mariota’s big fantasy game this week, reeling in 7 catches for 95 yards, 2 TDs and a 2-point conversion. In that span he has eclipsed the 100-yard mark receiving on both occasions, and has caught three touchdowns.
Fantasy owners could be facing similar questions this week with the Arizona Cardinals taking on the Seattle Seahawks.
Marvin Jones, Bengals (48% Owned): Jones is touchdown-dependent in terms of being a major impact player, but his targets are consistent, and the Bengals have relied more on their passing game than the run this year.
Eli Manning – Giants: The only real difference separating the Manning brothers this week was 68 yards. The Jaguars are allowing the ninth-most fantasy points to running backs.
As for the running backs, I hope you had an opportunity to grab DeAngelo Williams if he was available.
Week 9 was one of the most exciting weekends in the National Football League season, with close games, surprising upsets and a number of unforeseen fantasy performances. Lacy is still a strong fantasy option, but Starks may be worth starting for owners after how much he has been getting the ball in recent weeks. You need to keep your ear to the ground this week to see what happens on the Broncos RB depth chart. Ryan has had what most would consider to be six good matchups in a row (HOU, WASH, NO, TEN, TB, SF), yet in those games he only threw seven TD passes. His best performance of the season was during Week 1 when he ran for 63 yards and two touchdowns. The good news is he gets a chance to rebound against the Cowboys next week.
I’d give a slight edge to Crabtree, especially in a PPR league since he’s targeted more often. He gets a Saints defense next week that got roasted by the Titans this week. They are far from the formidable run defense we saw early this year. Does it make sense for you to start Jones? Whether Josh McCown or Johnny Manziel is under center, the Browns check in at third among National Football League teams in turnovers with 17 giveaways this season. After Isaiah Canaan started at the point for Philly’s first three games, McConnell supplanted him in each of the past three, while Stauskas has started all but one contest. Until this week that is, when he made a decision to put up just 42 yards on 3 receptions.
