Super Eagles: Odion Ighalo, Ikeme, others arrive Abuja camp
NAN reports that the 20 players trained under the watchful eyes of the Super Eagles coaching crew led by Oliseh.
The Super Eagles were earlier scheduled to train at least three times at night to condition the players with what they will encounter when they meet Swaziland in a World Cup qualifier in Mbabane this weekend.
“Swaziland is a hard team; the team shocked Guinea and it is not going to be easy playing them, especially on an artificial turf in their home”.
“With all due respect, I don’t expect them to pose so much of a threat but we still have to approach the game with all the seriousness it deserves, as underdogs they have nothing to lose hence they will play with freedom”.
Addressing the sporting media in Abuja yesterday, Oliseh he believes that as professional players the boys know how to behave while in the national team’s camp and do not need to be forced into writing an undertaking like school children.
Italy-based Ogenyi Onazi, Portugal-based defender Abdullahi Shehu and US-based forward Obafemi Martins were being expected.
“We have missed them as the players are not here because of flight problems”.
“The ones that are here now just flew in”.
“Our recent tour in Belgium should be good enough preparation for us”, he said.
“I am ready to play for my country and I have the confidence to play with any player”.
“I hope to win (against Swaziland) and I have been doing this from the first day”, the Chelsea star said on arrival.
Swaziland had beaten Djibouti over two legs in the first round to progress this stage, while Nigeria, being one of the top-seeded teams, drew bye.
