Rubio says he’s cool with Jeb despite rude-looking debate brush-off

It was nearly like Ted Cruz didn’t learn anything from Texas politicians. Cruz did have a significant oops moment when naming the five federal departments he would eliminate, reminiscent of fellow Texan Rick Perry’s debate blunder in 2012. “But I thought it was sort of a unusual situation”.

The USA needs to have the “strongest military on the planet and everyone has to know it”, she said.

Rubio said the government must deal with those here illegally “responsibly but realistically” and that those seeking legal status would have to pass a criminal background check, pay a fine and learn English. “There are radical jihadists in the Middle East beheading people and crucifying Christians”.

Carly Fiorina was spirited and made her points like a jackhammer. The timer was a game show ding and it seemed like nobody felt bound by it, so candidates went with canned speeches about someone they met somewhere and were allowed to ramble on (which happened several times). Rubio sidestepped potential land mines, spoke strongly on foreign policy and touted his general election credentials, while Cruz reeled off the crisp answers aimed at solidifying his credentials as the most consistently conservative GOP candidate.

Other candidates including Fiorina, Gov. Kasich and Trump spoke in favor of beefing up the military.

Asked by MSNBC whether he would let Ben Carson run one of his companies – a wink at an attack Trump launched at Marco Rubio days earlier – Trump passed on the opportunity to hit the retired neurosurgeon.
