PM attends Diwali event in Karachi : Govt will safeguard rights of religious
Prime Minister Sharif’s remarks assume significance with leaders of the Hindu community protesting in the Parliament and outside over the problem of forced conversion of Hindu girls in the southern Sindh province. “Such projects haven t been produced in the past”, he said. He said the present day’s event should be used to make the resolve by everyone to protect the people belonging to religious minorities and to play due part in struggle for provision of equal rights for each citizen of Pakistan.
Mr Sharif said people were now getting loans from banks while there was a major reduction in government’s borrowing from banks. He added that Rs300 billion had been allocated for the power plants to start with. “I will stand with you (Hindus) against the oppressor”, Sharif said, amid global concerns over violation of rights of minorities in Pakistan. PM said that a new Pakistan will emerge if this process continues for the next 3 years. “It is a message that we should march forward for putting the economy on sound footing and removing darkness from the country”, he said.
Sharif claimed that the completion of Balloki power project will help ending power outages in the country.
Nawaz Sharif attended an event to celebrate the Hindu festival of lights Diwali’ in Karachi and sent out a strong message that he is the Prime Minister of every citizen in Pakistan, regardless of their religion.
“It is a proof of the fact that these companies are well aware that under the PM’s leadership no politician or officer can demand any commission”, he said. “We have to maintain this standard and no one can change it”, he said. Had the development projects been earlier implemented with transparency, country’s circumstances would have been different, added the premier. Nawaz said the projects were being completed with transparency and honesty, adding Rs110 billion were saved through austerity in at least three projects.
The Balloki Power Plant will work with the 61.63 per cent working capacity that is higher than existing power plants.

The plant, which is set to start its generation from 2017, will provide cheaper electricity to public and also generate new job opportunities for the industrial and agricultural development. 5 billion will be saved in construction cost.
