Mercedes-Benz teases new SL-Class
A redesigned front grille and LED headlight clusters can be seen in this image, while previous spy images have also shown tweaked exhaust outlets and a reprofiled bumper at the rear.
Technical specifications are still under wraps until the LA Auto Show kicks off for the press on November 17, but the mechanical bits aren’t expected to change much outside of a modified COMAND infotainment system. It echoes the Carrera Panamericana-winning Mercedes 300 SL from 1952, and sits between new S-Class-inspired headlamps.
All the cars are rear-wheel drive, although four-wheel drive is due sometime next year, along with a V6 petrol model. They produce 333 bhp and 480 Nm of torque and 455 bhp and 700 Nm of torque respectively. Now for 2016 Mercedes-Benz has a twist as they are introducing the new 2016 C450 AMG Sports vehicle.
I think Mercedes has been pretty on-the-money with its coupe design lately, first with the new AMG GT and then just recently the C-Class coupe. The SL is a hard top convertible. This compact two-door bears a striking resemblance to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe, but obviously on a smaller scale. Prices start at INR 27.45 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi) and goes up to INR 8.9 crores (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
If you’re confused about exactly what it is, the idea here according to Benz is, a sporty sedan offering performance between the C400 4Matic, the auto that 450 replaces, and the mighty C63. Even their global sales are on a rise.
