Strike by cabin crew continue at Lufthansa
Lufthansa announced that 933 services would be cancelled on Thursday as cabin crew entered their sixth day of strikes, leaving 107,000 passengers scrambling to find alternate transport to their destinations.

The UFO strikes are expected to last until Friday. On Sunday, the strike action was on a break, however, the union resumed the strike on Wednesday.

The court dismissed the airline’s argument that the union’s reasons for striking were “too vague” and unjustified under German labour law.
Deutsche Lufthansa has lost a court bid to stop a flights attendants strike, forcing the German carrier to cancel 931 flights on Wednesday and raising the stakes in a dispute that has led to a record series of walkouts by cabin crew. Whether the union can also walk out in Dusseldorf remains open after the airline asked a second court to extend its earlier injunction through Friday.
A Lufthansa spokeswoman said it was looking at whether to appeal against the rulings, adding that the company stands by its position that “the demands for the strike were not clearly defined”.
Lufthansa declined to say how much the strike had cost.
Labour leaders are resisting Lufthansa’s efforts to restructure to compete with low-priced rivals.
The union is demanding that the current system of early retirement provisions remain unchanged, but Lufthansa has argued that those measures are too expensive.
Lufthansa wants to scrap an arrangement under which pilots can retire at 55 and receive up to 60% of their pay until they reach the statutory retirement age of 65. “Lufthansa will decide today on further steps”.
Lufthansa is requesting that passengers who have booked through a tour operator or travel agency contact that tour operator or agency directly.
