Thunder’s Durant leaves game at Wizards with left leg injury
Love how they cheered Singler on as soon as he got to the line and did something positive. Following a drive to the basket, Durant clutched at his left hamstring but played out the rest of the quarter. Washington fell 125-101 and to below.
Simple summation: Both of these teams are really good, and Utah probably put forth its best start-to-finish effort of the season in defeat. Durant appears to have finally returned to elite-level status after dealing with foot issues for much of last season.
“It means a lot coming back playing here”, Durant said, “because I remember as a kid catching the train to watch (games)… and to be able to walk on that court as an National Basketball Association player it shows the journey that I’ve been on”.
Last night, Durant scored 14 points and recorded 10 rebounds.
Injuries to Bradley Beal (shoulder) and then to Durant kind of killed the excitement between this matchup that was supposed to be a heated duel.
The NY Knicks handed the Toronto Raptors 111-109 for their first home loss of the season after Carmelo Anthony scored 25 points and reserve Lance Thomas had 17.
Head coach Randy Wittman made the incorrect comment that the Thunder did not have a stretch four. Point being: it’s a concern that the number one problem (post-convenient distraction of turnovers) is the defense, and that can be something hard to correct without the right personnel, but the Wizards should have the right personnel. They were outrebounded 53-41 and shot 39.2 per cent from the field.
Westbrook finished with 22 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists for the Thunder, who led by as many as 29 points in the second half.
On Wednesday, the Thunder announced that Durant underwent an MRI, which confirmed he has a strained left hamstring. Ibaka, Westbrook, and Dion Waiters more than made up for Durant’s absence offensively.
Russell went on a tear, recording his first triple-double of the season and the twentieth of his career. Gone as well were Wizard fans cheering excessively for KD, In fact, perhaps cognizant of his recent comments to the press about Washington’s “disrespectful” approach in January, a small contingent booed the former MVP each time he touched the ball early in the game.
