Ukraine PM says reforms continue despite ‘lunatic’ lawmakers
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk delivered a warning Tuesday to private bond-holders that the government “will do everything” in order to ease its massive debt burden.
Strengthening economic, as well as military, ties to these countries is part and parcel of a comprehensive Western strategy in the region: to bring about a return to status quo ante borders, to discredit Russia’s attempts to assert a sphere of influence over bordering states, and by furthering their economic and political development, to tie these states more closely to the West.
“If someone puts some of our territories under threat, that means we will have to direct our armed forces and modern strike power at those territories from where the threat emanates”, Putin said. “It is an especially important step in helping to stabilize and support the Ukrainian economy”.
He cited for instance Ukrainian businessmen who have been “sitting like vampires” on the company’s publicly-owned energy sector.
“The Ukraine market is important for a variety of Canadian exports, particularly in our agricultural and agricultural equipment sectors”, said Jayson Myers, CME’s president & CEO.
On Monday, the White House issued a statement that said Ukraine must take a “strong stand against populist measures that could undermine Ukraine’s financial stability”.
Yatsenyuk said that President Petro Poroshenko would veto the bill if it succeeds in parliament.
He noted that British troops have already begun small-scale training of Ukrainian army units in the effort to deter Russian aggression in eastern Ukraine and put pressure on Ukrainian rebels supplied and backed by Moscow to adhere to ceasefire agreements signed in February.
With more than a million people claiming roots in Ukraine, Canada has supported Kiev many times since the 2014 revolution and Russia’s annexation of the Crimean peninsula.
“That is what I asked the Canadian prime minister: “Please tell your investors and your businesses to jump into Ukraine””, the prime minister said. He said there are ongoing talks with different countries about how to increase military co-operation.
The two countries have been “clear about their commitment to concluding negotiations on a free trade agreement”, Rick Roth, a spokesman for Fast, said in an e-mail.
