Dog stands guard over fallen friend
He was taken to Dallas Animal Services in hopes his family would be found. On Tuesday, DAS reported they’d found the Great Pyrenees’ family and that his name is Brian.
A dog has been captured on camera standing guard over another dog – killed outside a cemetery in south-west Dallas – in a touching display of loyalty.
A heartbreaking photo of a devoted dog from Dallas who refused to leave the side of his dying canine friend has gone viral.
They could tell that the dog had dragged his friend’s body off of the road and into the grass from the blood stains, and based on the condition of the body, he had been standing watch for several hours.
She later told Reuters: “I had to pick him up and carry him to my vehicle because he wouldn’t move”, Fennell said.
The owner said the dogs ran out unexpectedly on Saturday when the garage door was opened.
If he is not claimed he will be taken to a rescue centre dedicated to caring for Great Pyrenees’ according to Ms Fennell.
The tragic photo was snapped by passer-by Samuel Flores and posted on Facebook, which was shared by local animal advocate Julie Fennell.
Cleek said she believes the dog has an owner, but she is unsure how long he’s been in the wild.
“Our condolences to the family on the loss of Marley, but we are happy that at least Brian will be going home soon”.
