Julia Roberts on Jennifer Lawrence’s Wage Inequality Essay: ‘I Love That She’s
Roberts didn’t hesitate one bit when I asked her last night at the premiere of Secret in Their Eyes if Clooney has “mellowed” since he and Amal Clooney tied the knot.
“I had to surgically separate the two things”, she said.
‘It helped in a couple of ways because, first of all, I try to impress him so much…I think, as much as I try to impress my director, I just think, “is he – okay, he’s looking”. I think it’s great to kind of shake things up. “I think you’ll be clenching”, Norris said.
“It’s a sensitive subject because the character does get physically assaulted and raped early on in the movie, and I knew I could handle questions about the movie”, she explained.
Now, Julia Roberts has added her voice to the mix, taking a decidedly different tone to Winslet and saying that Lawrence should be lauded for her fearless essay. “It’s incredible”, Roberts shared, referring to the 25-year-old Hunger Games star’s op-ed from October in which she addressed the pay gap between herself and her male American Hustle co-stars.
When the salary information leaked, Lawrence wrote that, “I didn’t get mad at Sony”. “I’m over trying to find the “adorable” way to state my opinion and still be likable!”
MADRID, SPAIN – NOVEMBER 10: Actress Jennifer Lawrence attends “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2” (Los Juegos del Hambre: Sinsajo Parte 2) premiere at the Kinepolis Cinema on November 10, 2015 in Madrid, Spain. “So I relished every day”, Ejiofor said. “And I was like, ‘What is happening to me?’ I was literally fearful. I realize I could never be on a cop show”.
“I was destroyed, because you can’t unsee something”, Bullock continued. “It was the way I was being treated, because I was female, versus the way others were being treated”. “I know we’re focused on the money part right now”. That’s just a byproduct.
