Wayne Rooney ‘slaps’ WWE wrestler Wade Barrett to ground after taunt
Wayne Rooney was goaded into retaliation, and slapped the sportsman.
The footballer was at Manchester Arena for the WWE fight with his son Kai, but when “King” Wade Barratt (real name Stu Bennett) spotted the father and son in their ringside seats, he began to insult him. After the event, Barrett left Rooney with a chilling message that could disturb even the manliest of men, ominously telling a reporter that Wayne’s days are numbered.
He then added a more personal insult, saying that Rooney’s son watches him fail everytime he plays football. “You’re looking at me like you’ve got a few kind of problem with me”.
“I would offer to have you step inside this ring so we can fight this out like men”, Barrett said.
“Why don’t you go back to your own business before I knock you out”, Barrett warned the England hitman.
Rooney is a known fan of boxing and recently took his passion in combat sports to a new level when he put himself on board an entertaining feud with Barrett, but was later revealed to be all hype in order to organize a match for WresterMania 31.
At which point Rooney slapped the wrestler, causing him to fall theatrically to the floor resulting in huge cheers from the audience on Monday night.
Barrett actually sent a tweet to WWE chairman Vince McMahon in the hope of organizing a tag-team battle between Steve Austin and Rooney against Barrett and popular Preston striker Kevin Davis.
