Strong and gusty winds expected Thursday for Waterloo region
The weather service says the “cyclone will generate strong to potentially damaging winds across our region in the process, with the highest winds expected late today and tonight”.
An occasional gust to 100 km/h is possible near the shore of Eastern Lake Erie Thursday afternoon.
A high wind warning has been issued for Wyoming, Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Erie, Genesee, and Chautauqua counties.
Strong winds could make travel risky and could down trees and power lines, according to the warning.
The winds will be around most of the day Thursday before diminishing on Thursday night.
With winds maintaining such high speeds, Thomas advises placing any loose outdoor items inside or tied down for the next two days. “Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds”, says Environment Canada.
