McLaren Debut Special Edition Spider for Middle East
This theme continues inside, as the interior features black and Almond White leather upholstery, contrasted by button surrounds finished in gold.
The auto was developed by McLaren’s Special Operations division, the arm of the company that’s responsible for designing and engineering bespoke cars for mega-rich customers. McLaren also took the opportunity to introduce the region to its Sports Series, Super Series and Ultimate Series vehicles.
The McLaren 650S Spider Al Sahara 79 by MSO has a retail price of £260,000.
Priced at 1,456,308 AED ($A560,000), the car’s retractable hard-top and forged alloy wheels are finished in gloss black, while carbon-fibre features on the side intakes, front splitter and rear diffuser, complimented by full-length carbon-fibre MSO-branded Side Blades.
MSO has painted the auto pearlescent white gold, but it’s added 24-carat gold particles into the mix as a nod to the region’s love for the precious metal. McLaren didn’t disappoint either, endowing the 650S with a 3.0-liter twin turbocharged V8 capable of an impressive 641 bhp and 500 lb-ft of torque.
And it’s also why McLaren has chosen the Dubai Motor Show as the venue for unveiling its latest McLaren Special Operations (MSO) project, the 650 S Spider Al Sahara 79 by MSO – which will be offered exclusively to clients in the region.
Ian Gorsuch, McLaren’s regional director for the Middle East & Africa, said: “McLaren Automotive is a true pioneer in its approach to the design and development of high performance sports and supercars, and the 650S Spider Al Sahara 79 is evidence of that”. All switchgear and heating vents come in a dark gold finish. 62mph arrives in a claimed three seconds and top speed is 204mph – all identical to the regular 650S Spider. Fuel economy is 24.2 mpg and Carbon dioxide emission is at 275 g/km.
Fittingly, the Al Sahara made its debut at the Dubai worldwide Motor Show in the United Arab Emirates, and will be on display through Saturday, November 14. By combining luxury with McLaren’s craftsmanship and the beauty of the Middle East, the auto maker has brought the new limited edition McLaren 650S Spider Al Sahara 79.
