Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck ‘to miss up to six weeks’
Tests revealed that Luck partially tore an abdominal muscle and suffered a laceration in his kidney.
“You guys know it and we know it and everybody in this building knows it. (Luck’s latest injury) is one heck of a blow”, Pagano said.
Matt Hasselback shouldn’t be a six-week solution for the Colts while Andrew Luck returns from injury, his brother Tim said.
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck (12) makes hand signals at the line of scrimmage during a game against the Denver Broncos at Lucas Oil Stadium.
“We’re going to keep listening to the doctors and evaluating his progress on a week-by-week basis”, Colts coach Chuck Pagano said. Pagano indicated the team won’t throw Luck back out there “until he’s healed and ready to go”.
“We’ve been through a lot in this 2015 season”, Pagano added.
The Colts’ next major opponent will be the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have their own injury problems with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who is now nursing a mid-foot sprain. Luck amazingly stayed in the game and helped the team finish off a victory. The injuries will sideline the fourth-year quarterback, potentially for the next 2-6 weeks. But if you’re a Colts fan, it’s not time to give up on the season because they do play in a weak division. The good news is that Matt Hasselbeck is healthy and more than capable of running the huddle on November 22nd. Luck missed the first two games of his career after getting hurt at Tennessee on September 27. Reserve Matt Hasselbeck, who filled in for Luck earlier in the season, will take the starting role again.
The Colts sit atop the lackluster AFC South with a 4-5 record. Hasselbeck took over and beat the Jacksonville Jaguars and Houston Texans, throwing for a combined 495 yards and three touchdowns in the two games.
