Killed in Niger as Boko Haram Attacks
Nigerians soldiers have killed four Boko Haram terrorists and rescued 61 captives of the sect during am operation in Borno State, an army spokesperson says.
Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari has given troops in the country a December deadline to end the Boko Haram insurgency in the country.
Troops of the 115 Task Force Battalion under 7 Brigade Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) had during a patrol and raid of Boko Haram terrorists hideout arrested a female suspected to be wife of the Boko Haram leader after her husband took to his heels amidst shoot-out.
While the clearing militant camps, a leading vehicle was hit by a buried improvised explosive device, Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters said in a post on its Facebook page.
In early August, the army said it had freed 178 people, including more than 100 children, following an operation near Aulari town, about 70 kilometers (44 miles) south of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state. The troops also encountered an abandoned truck loaded with IEDs at Uvole village, which was blown up by them.
An army statement said that in the two-hour fight, which started at 04:00 GMT, seven Boko Haram fighters were killed and weapons were captured.
He reassured members of the public that the Nigerian Army remains committed to its obligation to Nigerians. It is reinforced by the manifest desire and zeal of the rank and file down to the last rifle man to discharge their responsibility for the restoration and maintenance of peace as well as the safeguarding of the safety and security of the citizenry in the North East.
