Notes from Today’s Nintendo Direct
The first Nintendo Direct since the death of Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata has delivered the usual collection of shocks and disappointments, starting with the confirmation of The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD.
One highlight from the broadcast was the announcement of a launch date for Star Fox Zero. While we’ve known about Zelda’s delay into 2016 since this spring, the delay of Starfox Zero has left the Wii U with a very big gap in its holiday line-up.
All Nintendo fans around the globe all want more information on the Nintendo NX, but patience is a virtue and Nintendo Direct will reportedly not be covering it. Nintendo is doing the right thing and still paying attention to the Wii U and 3DS.
A new trailer for Xenoblade X was also shown, featuring a somewhat more comical angle than past ones that have been released as well as a new trailer for Mario & Luigi Paper Jam Bros.
Meanwhile, CinemaBlend reported that the Nintendo Direct revealed that there will be another event intended for “Super Smash Bros.” come December.
AMD already hinted of new consoles that they are working on, set to be released in 2016.
On the 3DS front Nintendo just launched Yokai Watch this past week.
Walmart and Amazon will offer the original Nintendo 3DS XL system with a download code for the game Super Mario 3D Land for a suggested retail price of $129.99. It appeared that Nintendo was giving the game a re-evaluation, but Trinen touted the Wii U GamePad controls, making it appear that a classic control option is not in the works.
Nintendo announced today that a new Nintendo Direct will air at 9am AEDT (11am NZT) this Friday.
Given that the listing did indicate a Wii U version of the game, it may still mean that “Minecraft” will be given a new platform, but at a later time.
NIntendo confirmed that Cloud Strife will be featured in both the WiiU and 3DS versions of Super Smash Bros. Parents don’t have to worry about either game containing gore or violence, Nintendo is very conservative in the way it approaches game development. Both games are monster battle RPGs with tons of charm and an anime to hook kids even when they’re away from the game.
