Firefox is now available on the iPhone
The browser’s tab management feature allow users to switch between multiple windows by pressing the tab button in the top-right corner of the screen, while private browsing (when activated) allows users to browse websites without saving their browsing history or sharing existing cookies with the sites they visit. You can grab it now via the App Store anywhere in the world.
This browser is sure to woo a few users who simply want to be able to sync their desktop bookmarks and other preferences with a mobile version of Firefox.
The Firefox browser has been available on Android for a few years now but Apple and Mozilla had a little dispute that prevented an iOS version for some time.
However, the group couldn’t ignore the platform forever, and when the arrival of iOS 8 previous year brought with it new possibilities, Mozilla finally relented and started work on creating a browser for Apple’s mobile devices.
It was all the way back in 2012 when we covered the news of Mozilla’s Firefox browser arriving for Android. We’ll see what impact it has on the brower’s falling market share.
But Firefox loyalists will be happy. Apple has its own Safari that is pre-installed on all iOS devices. In May, Mozilla noted that those changes opened up new opportunities for Firefox, and it released a public preview for users in New Zealand in September.
“By downloading the app, you can experience Firefox OS and explore many of its capabilities, without flashing hardware. If you decide you’re done trying it out, the app can be removed as simply as any other app. If you’re interested in becoming a code contributor or bug reporter, the app makes it dramatically easier to get involved”, he continued. Mozilla says it’s going full on with iOS development, so more features will come soon.
