Huawei Unveils New Fast Charging Battery – Roughly 50% Charge In Five Minutes
Many of us have a veritable super-computer in our pockets in the form of our cell phones.
While it may be quite a few time before battery longevity sees a significant boost, Huawei just announced remarkable progress where quick charge technology is concerned, which could ultimately be a game-changer once it’s ready for use in commercial products.
Fast charging in general can greatly reduce one’s time as a wall hugger, and Huawei’s new battery tech could make wall hugging a very temporary position. Huawei has tested these batteries extensively and believes they foreshadow a revolution in lithium battery development.

The company also demonstrated a smaller, 600 mAh capacity battery that reached 68% in two minutes.
According to the company, this new technology is capable of charging compatible batteries up to 10 times faster than normal lithium-ion batteries.
“Phones have got thinner, but the batteries as they have got thinner have not advanced”. In just five minutes, the battery is charged from almost empty to 48%.
The batteries were put to rigorous tests, Huawei says, and have been certified by Huawei’s terminal test department.
Chinese smartphone maker Huawei has a powerful new weapon in its competition for the global Android market: phone batteries that can recharge in less time than it takes to power down a latte.
The way it worked was using heteroatoms and bonding them to the molecule of graphite in the anode – which then acts as a catalyst for the transmission of lithium through carbon bonds.
Attacking the battery life issue from a different angle are advancements to how quickly our smartphones and tablets fully charge.
Huawei said it’s “confident” the discovery will lead to big changes in mobile phones, electric cars and wearable devices, among other things.
