Tamar Braxton leaves “Dancing with the Stars” over “serious” health issue
Tamar Braxton was so ill when she dashed to the Dancing With the Stars studio on Monday, November 9, to dance the final number and avoid elimination, that dance partner Nick Carter had to literally hold her up.
At first, Braxton and her dance partner Val Chmerkovskiy had to be judged on behalf of the dress rehearsal video they shot in order for the couple to not be disqualified from the competition. Tamar says she had blood clots on both sides of her lungs. Explaining her reluctance to go away the show, on which she performed with skilled Val Chmerkovsk, she added: ‘As you all know I would be the 1st to all the time foster anyone to push via any impediment in that comes alongside one’s means.
‘But in this case, my health is my current obstacle… “And in TRUE #tamartian form I must go about this the exact same way as I would anything else”, she wrote in the photo’s caption.
Braxton was a fan and a judge favorite this season, with memorable performances to Janet Jackson’s “Rhythm Nation” and another where she danced while her husband Vince Herbert played the piano. I love you and thank you ALL for your support.
During the show, Chmerkovskiy said Braxton “came on the lot 15 minutes before we danced, sick with pneumonia and exhausted”. According to Cinema Blend, Tamar does not have pneumonia as she first suspected, it is something more life threatening. “I feel really bad because it shouldn’t be like that”.
Braxton didn’t attend the post-show press line, but Carter and Burgess told reporters about the stressful situation.
But Braxton pulled it together and made the show Monday night, leading host Tom Bergeron to exclaim, “Wow….” We know her doctor advised against it. And who are these people who kept voting for her, knowing her condition was deteriorating?
On Instagram, she said doctors had advised against her leaving the hospital to dance.
Seven celebrity contestants were previously cut from the roster: Singer Andy Grammer, online star Hayes Grier, chef Paula Deen, Gary Busey, “Real Housewives of Atlanta” co-star Kim Zolciak Biermann, Triple Crown-winning jockey Victor Espinoza and singer Chaka Khan. Best wishes Tamar! While we will miss you, we completely understand and certainly hope you have a speedy recovery!
